Ed's the man. Great breakfast. Beautifully restored home walking distance to all the main sights in downtown St. Pete. Stayed in the Cracker Room. Nicely appointed. Will return

My girlfriend and I just spent the weekend here at the Dickens House Bed and Breakfast. It was a pleasure from start to finish. The entire house is tastefully decorated, and is as comfortable and functional as it is aesthetically pleasing. It is apparent that Ed, the owner of Dickens House, takes great pride in everything that he does. His breakfasts were well thought out, hearty, and healthy. Each portion is just right, and he listens to your needs and preferences, and incorporates them into his planning of the next day's meal. Ed always has a story to tell, and they usually come with handy information about the history of the area. All the rooms are comfortable, clean, and good looking. My girlfriend and I were suprised at just how conveniently located Dickens House is to most everything we wanted to do and see. Once we arrived to the house, we didn't have to use our car once until we left. Everything is walking distance or reachable by the trolley that swings by a stop every 15 minutes located three blocks from the house We will certainly be back next time we swing around the St. Petersburg area. Thanks for the hospitality Ed!

Dickens house has all that makes a B&B great. -A fun to talk to and professional innkeeper. Ed has run the Dickens house for nearly 14 years -Clean and well appointed rooms. -An excellent breakfast which is unique and special. I am really disappointed when a B&B pulls the egg any style breakfast surprise or cooks up a simple dish I could do myself. Ed made a spot on breakfast which was different and special...all for one guy staying one night! -A beautiful home. Ed put some true heart and soul into this renovation. Very nice craftsman style 1912 catalog home. The house has modern amenities with an original feel. I stayed in the smallest room on the third floor. It is small but very functional. Don't bring five suitcases or you will not fit in the room! A fun room to stay in. Close to downtown and the Vinoy. Wireless internet provided. Couple of blocks from the water.

Ed runs a very nice establishment, and makes the best scrambled eggs I've ever had! Along with great scrambled eggs, there was a generous fresh fruit platter every morning, with very good coffee. The place itself is lovely and very comfortable, with a number of different spaces to sit and just enjoy the surroundings. The location is terrific, with adequate parking and allowing for a nice walk to the bay and downtown St. Pete. The Cracker Suite was just right for the two of us, and we found many special touches (like a lint roller) that let us know that the innkeeper pays attention to the details that matter.

We chose to stay here rather than a hotel and we were glad we did. Ed did a marvelous job of renovating the Dickens house. You can see how much care and effort went into putting it back in to original condition. It is located in a great area, close walking distance to everything. We enjoyed walking the streets and looking at all of the houses. Well worth staying here. We would absolutely stay there again.

Very special place. My husband and I stayed here on a business trip. Our original plan was to stay at a standard hotel in Tampa but, wanting a more personal experience, we found this place online at the last minute and booked it. So glad we did. We loved our stay. The place is nestled in the historical district of town and a just quick walk to the ocean. Ed, our host, was very hospitable and shared a lot of inside knowledge with us about St. Petersburg. Long visits on the porch about the history of the town, recommendations of where to eat, lovely beaches to visit, made our 'business trip' in St. Pete very special and more like a leisure trip. His breakfasts are delicious. This was the perfect place to stay. You just don't get an experience like this in a standard old hotel.

Do NOT stay at a hotel when you visit St. Petersburg--stay at Dickens House, where you will be welcomed by Ed with open arms, fabulous breakfasts, and a beautifully restored and appointed Craftsman-style home just a few minutes walk from the Looper trolley line (which costs 25 cents and probably goes to all the places you'll want to see during your visit). We stayed for 3 nights on a mini-vacation to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, and chose St. Pete for the wonderful new Dali museum and 2011 Taste of Pinellas festival. Our corner room had a huge tiled bathroom with TWO pedestal sinks, jetted tub and separate shower, and a beautiful canopy bed. Lots of room to sit and read and watch TV, but better yet, go chat with Ed about the town and his amazing and painstaking transformation of the house. Or walk a couple of blocks to enjoy the nightlife on Beach Road. Ed even offered to pack us a breakfast to-go for our early morning departure for the airport. When we go back again--and we will!--we won't think of staying anywhere else.
